Zanzibar – the land of lush beaches, rich marine life, bustling marketplaces, and breath-taking scenery. Located on the side of the capital of Tanzania, Dar es Salaam, this popular destination holds an array of attractions and activities for you to explore. Whether you are a seafarer, adventurer, or a free spirit, there is something for everyone to enjoy here.
- To dive into history, visit Stone Town (a World Heritage Site) on the west coast of Zanzibar, the birthplace of famous Freddie Mercury of the Rock band Queen. Do not forget to visit the museum named after him. The architecture of the city is also mesmerising with aesthetically pleasing restaurants, artwork, and sunsets.
- A casual stroll to the Spice Market is another great activity. Here, you can find a spread of spices, soaps, and creams among other things - all handmade by the local community within the farm.
- Next stop is Prison Island, a boat's trip from Zanzibar coast which only takes a couple minutes. An interesting fact about this island is that you can find a number of animal species including super friendly turtles with whom you can spend the day with! The island offers a distinct combination of nature, history and adventure, making it the perfect day trip by the calming shores of Zanzibar.
- Nakupenda (In Swahili means I LOVE YOU), is the name of an amazing sandbank located just off Stone town. On the beach, you can try snorkelling, parasailing, sunbathing, as well as devouring some fresh seafood including unique crabs, octopuses and exotic seasonal fruits. This is the place where brilliant wildlife, white sand, limpid and crystalline water all co-exist.
Each of these places tie in the rich culture which this island is all about. These are just a handful of the wonderful experiences that Zanzibar offers. Check out our live trips to Zanzibar and experience them for yourself!
